The Lifescape Portraits team had the opportunity to spend the 4th of July in Washington, D.C. Seeped in our nation’s history, the city’s monuments and museums are an amazing reminder of the triumphs and hardships our country has faced over the centuries.
The nation’s capital commemorates our democratic journey in so many ways. From the founders’ U.S. constitution on display at the National Archives to the inaugural ballgowns of every first lady at the American History Museum and paintings of each U.S. president at the National Portrait Gallery. From the majestic memorials for Abraham Lincoln and George Washington to the scientific wonders of the Space Shuttle Discovery at the Air & Space Museum.
Happy 246th birthday to the U.S.A.

Lincoln reminded Civil War Americans of their recent sacrifices when he urged the people of his era to “take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion—that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain—that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom—and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.” Good advice for 2022.
